King’s School needs your help!

This is a King’s School call to action for past pupils, parents, friends and supporters!

The current economic climate, the small size of the school and the ageing infrastructure are some factors that have combined to put us in a position where we have to completely re-invent the way we present ourselves to parents, learners and the community. This we will do without losing the values that have kept us strong for 97 years.

For a number of years, we have tried to continue with business-as-usual but it has become clear it is time for change. As a committed school-with-a-mission, and as a Non-Profit Organisation, we have focused on making a difference, rather than on making money, but now we are at a turning point and we have to reach out for some support to help make the transition.

We are calling on all past and present pupils, parents, friends, associates, suppliers and similar organisations to pull together with us, and make a contribution to get us over the hump and into a new space. We have an established Endowment Fund that has attracted some generous donations since it was established, but we need to accelerate this process to the next level.

We are in the process of developing a new business model to offer innovative education to children in a changing world, which will inform how we move into the future, and some past pupils, parents, teachers, board members and wise advisors are working closely with us.

Our Target

We need to raise R100 000 by the end of April, another R400 000 by the end of June and a further R500 000 by the end of the year.

How can YOU help now?

  1. Most obviously and most urgently, we are calling for cash donations (see donation form above). Please know that any amount will assist us to reach our target.
  2. You could approach your company/employer to make a CSI donation to the school, in return for BBBEE points – we will supply a certificate to you for tax rebate purposes and for the BBBEE scorecard.
  3. You can also be more innovative, and champion a crowd-funding event: host a dinner party or coffee morning; organise a sponsored walk/run/ride; organise a good old-fashioned cake sale, or a raffle; auction an item of value amongst your family, friends and colleagues. We will be giving plenty of ideas over the coming months!
  4. At the very least, you could share this post in your social media networks (the more the merrier!)
